Week 1: A logic model or program theory is a description or model frequently pictorial of how a program is supposed to achieve its expected outcomes and solve the identified problem for which it was created. It creates a logical links between expected outcomes and the activities designed to achieve them and incorporates the evidence-based theoretical assumptions that explain how the activities will lead to outcomes. A program theory or logic model is NOT the theoretical framework on which your project is based although it may be related to a theoretical framework. A theoretical or conceptual framework is a general theory that explains why some things happen. A program theory or logic model is unique to your project and explains how it is supposed to work.
Develop a one-page diagram of theoretical foundation for your project/program, describing how and why your project should achieve the desired outcome. Add references on the second page. You may arrange items in the diagram in any way you choose, but the diagrams should include each of the following components and show the logical connections between them:
The need or problem to be addressed by the project/program with supporting data
The context for the project/program (attach a reference list with your diagram)
The strategy (ies) proposed to address the need/problem
The evidence base for the proposed strategies (attached a reference list with your diagram)
Factors that will influence the use of strategy
The expected outcomes of the project/program
The resulting impact of the project/program if the outcomes are achieved.
Length: Two pages (1st page for diagram, 2nd page for references)
Format: APA Style (7th ed.), one-inch margins with double spacing, proper APA formatting
Research: Scholarly (peer-reviewed) contemporary reference(s) within the last 5 years
Writing: Use correct grammar and sentence construction: Clear expression of ideas
What are the benefits of evaluating the role of outcomes in practice change through research? Discuss how you would evaluate the roles of outcomes through a change proposed from research findings.
Select the specific theoretical framework that you will use with your project (education, leadership or FNP). Describe how the theory that you chose aligns with your capstone project. Include the following information:
Describe the key features of the selected theoretical framework/model. What are its major components?
Identify specific research approaches appropriate for use with the theoretical model or framework and how it fits with your intended project.
Does the model lend itself to quantitative or qualitative methods or both?
What kind of quantitative/qualitative methods would be most appropriate? (Focus groups, interviews, pre/post-tests, record review, survey, etc.)
Describe how the theoretical framework might be used to evaluate the program/project and critique how well the model fits the program or project.
What aspects of the model works well and what aspects do not?
Length: 2-3 pages not including references
Write 2-3 pages applicable to JEAN WATSON Theory. Identify the stakeholders (use fictitious names for stakeholders) that will play a major part with your study and integrate with your project.
Topics to include:
Roles of stakeholders
Identify your stakeholders – are they supportive to your project?
List of stakeholders who will be interested in the results of your project
Promoting stakeholder participation
Possible concerns/barriers from stakeholders
Strategies that you will use to gain support and assistance from your stakeholders
Length: 2-3 pages
What are the benefits of constructing an abstract and a capstone poster with regard to dissemination of research findings?
Discuss how your research inquiry relates to evidence-based practice. What practice improvement outcomes do you expect your inquiry to accomplish? How do you intend to evaluate your capstone project?
Submit 2-3 pages describing the Methods/Design and Statistical Analysis that you will use in your project. Use the evidence from the peer reviewed articles that you have critically appraised and synthesized. Follow APA format and cite references. Include the following:
Describe the evaluative criteria (indicators or variables) to be addressed in answering each evaluation question.
Describe the research approaches to be used to answer each question and why they are appropriate to the evaluation questions posed.
Describe in specific detail how data will be collected related to each of your evaluative criteria/indicators. Discuss exactly how the data be collected, when, and by whom. Describe any data collection tools in terms of their development and appropriateness in answering the evaluation questions. Provide information on validity and reliability of tools, if available. Explain why the data collection methods are appropriate to the research approach, type of data, and purpose of the evaluation.
Describe how you will analyze the data, including specific statistical tests to be used. Include dummy data tables if applicable to show how you will display your findings.
Points: 10 | Due Date: Week 4, Day 3 & 7 | CLO: 3 | Grade Category: Discussions
Discuss how you intend to implement your evidence-based findings. What are your anticipated challenges? How do you intend to overcome some of those challenges?
FOCUS on JEAN WATSON THEORY
Strengths, Challenges, Opportunities and Threats (SCOT) is a simple yet comprehensive way of assessing the positive and negative forces within and outside your organization so you can be better prepared to act effectively. It reminds the project leader to build on strengths, minimize challenges, seize opportunities, and counteract threats.
Each student will perform a SCOT (formerly SWOT) analysis in their practice that identifies strengths, challenges, opportunities and threats to assist in making strategic plans and decisions in the implementation of the EBP.
Submit a 1-2 slide PowerPoint presentation of a SCOT analysis as it relates to your project.
Please keep it detailed
Discuss the individual and/or community needs as it relates to the reason for your capstone research inquiry. Why do you believe your research inquiry/findings will address the identified needs that prompted your inquiry?
Discuss the theoretical framework or model that you intend to use for your capstone project: JEAN WATSON. How does your chosen framework relate to your phenomenon of interest and research?
